Bishops in Ankole sub region call for peace and reconciliation during Easter prayers
Today is Easter Monday in different countries including Uganda, and as Christians continue celebrating, Bishops of different dioceses in Ankole sub region yesterday called for peace and reconciliation during their Easter homilies to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Rt. Rev Amos Magyezi, Northwest Ankole diocese Bishop told Christians at St. Paul's Cathedral Ibanda to tolerate one another. He said that the action of Christ to forgive his persecutors makes it clear that forgiveness is Key, irrespective of the prevailing situation.
Nathan Ahimbisibwe, the Bishop of South Ankole Diocese, speaking at St. Mathew Cathedral Kyamate, reminded all believers that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to restore hope amongst Christians and to have peace abundantly thus urging them to use this Easter to repent and forgive those who wronged them, just like Jesus did.
At Nyamitanga Cathedral, the Auxiliary(Assisting) Bishop for Mbarara Arch Diocese, Lambert Bainomugisha asked Christians to reflect on the death of Jesus Christ and love one another.
At St. Peters Cathedral Bweranyangi, the West Ankole Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev John Twinomujuni called upon Christians to work together and fight moral decadence, further calling on government to ensure that all criminals are tracked down and brought to book.
Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa, at St. James Cathedral Ruhaaro, called for peace to prevail among Christians, further applauding Uganda Communications Commission for revoking the licenses of radio stations accused of publicizing and promoting witchcraft.
