Kigezi Mourns Fallen Radio Star,To Be Laid To Rest Tomorrow

The fallen broadcaster, Passy Kamusiime will be laid to rest tomorrow(Friday 8th December , 2017) in Omukihindi cell, Southern Division, Rukungiri municipality.

Today, hundreds of people flocked Kabale police play ground ,for a requiem service ,to bid farewell to the fallen radio presenter and news anchor.

Kamusiime, 31, who died on Wednesday has been working with the Kabale based Voice of Kigezi radio as mid morning show host , Runyankole/Rukiga news anchor and a host of different talk shows at the radio station. She died at Kabale regional referral hospital over an unknown illness.

Kamusiime’s mother, Ms Angella Byamugisha said she traveled from Rukungiri municipality on Monday morning after the deceased called her saying she was having “a terrible headache.”

“She told me that she had visited Rugarama hospital in Kabale town for medical examination but there was no single illness detected though she was still feeling weak. We prayed together and called for God’s mercy and on Wednesday at around 11:30am she became too weak and I called some relatives and friends that helped me to take her to Kabale regional referral hospital where doctors did their best but at about 8pm, my daughter died,” Ms Byamugisha said.

According to a medical report presented by Andrew Agaba, the VOK station manager, medics noted that despite the deceased’ s medical diagnosis indicating negative sickness results, she battled a strong headache and mental instability.

At the Requiem service, the Voice of Kigezi director, Eng. Ivan Batuma praised Kamusiime for being a hard working employee and a super link between the radio audience and the station.

Darius Nandinda, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner commended Kamusiime for being a professional broadcaster who never sounded biased on air and treated all people equally.

“We were planning to recognise her among the best radio presenters we have in this region for her good work but she has left us without its fulfillment,” said Nandinda.

Preaching during the requiem service, Ivan Mubangizi, the Rushaki ward ray leader asked Christians to ensure that they observe biblical teachings in the execution of their duties.

Kamusiime graduated with a diploma in Journalism at the Great Lakes Institute in Rukungiri District and started working at Kinkiizi FM in Kanungu District for a while and later worked at Kanungu Broadcasting Services FM Radio in the same district. In 2013, she started working with Voice of Kigezi FM in Kabale town.
