Creation of Kazo north Constituency yet to be approved

Kiruhura district councilors are waiting for the approval of the new constituency by the local government ministry, after the council recently overwhelmingly voted for its creation.

The motion for the creation of Kazo north constituency was moved by the councilor for Nkungu sub-county, Seth Byaruhanga and seconded by the Rwemikoma sub-county councilor, Kanyohora Laban Last year, but the Chairman LCV, Mugisha Samuel Katugundu failed to attend the meeting, and the Speaker, Dan Mukago received the call from the Kazo county mp, Honourable Gordon Bafaki halting the debate on the motion, forcing the speaker to send it to the finance committee.

In the district council of 22nd march 2018, thirty two out of thirty six councilors voted in favour of creating the new Kazo north constituency, 2 voted against, while 2 were absent.

The new Kazo north constituency will take up Burunga, Buremba, Rwemikooma and Nkungu sub-counties.

Speaking to our reporter, Laban Kanyohora, the district councilor for Rwemikoma sub-county says they are waiting for the Clerk to Council, Kasagara Edward to write to ministry of local government for action.
