Activists and leaders have warned that the absence of special interventions targeting Persons with Disabilities(PWDs) in the prevention and management of HIV is exposing them to health risks.

Herbert Ssekabira, the Luweero district councillor for Persons with Disabilities says that PWDS are among the most vulnerable groups at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS over lack of information on prevention, care and treatment services as well as friendly services.

Ssekabira adds that a number of able-bodied men sexually abuse women with disabilities and expose them to HIV; yet such women are not supported through any direct intervention, to overcome the trauma that comes with living with HIV.
