Kisoro: Two Held Over Possession Of Counterfeit Currency

Police in Kisoro is holding two men for allegedly being in possession of counterfeit notes.

Elly Maate, Kigezi police spokesperson confirmed that the two suspects were arrested yesterday from Muhabura View Guest House, where they were found with counterfeit notes totaling four millions and four hundred thousand (Shs. 4,400,000=) in the denominations of 50000 and 20000 shillings.

He identified them as; Kenneth Mugabe, 36, a self-employed resident of Kilokole Zone, in Tula, Kawempe and Arthur Mutumba, 33, a businessman in Nakawa, Kampala.

Maate says there has been a public outcry lately of counterfeit money in Kisoro district where the suspects have been operating, thus advising the locals to always double-check their money, especially new notes, during transactions.

Maate says they are still investigating the two suspects under police case number SD38/20/2018.
