Kisoro: Fire outbreak Frustrates Traders in Kyanika Town Council

Traders in Kyanika Town Council in Kisoro District ,at the Uganda Border with Rwanda, were today morning left in tears after fire gutted 25 wooden kiosks, destroying property worth millions of money.

Gershom Barore Nombe , the chairman of Kyanika trading centre says that the fire that begun at around 11:05am began in one of the restaurants where one trader left a burning charcoal stove.

The Kisoro district chairperson, Abel Bizimana, says that Police fire brigade vehicle tried to rescue the traders, officers attempted to put the fire off but they ran out of water before the fire could completely go off.

Elly Maate, Kigezi Region Police spokesperson says police investigations into the exact cause of the fire have kicked off.

This is the second time the border market is catching fire this year.

On January 10th the market almost entirely went up in flames, just like it did on 26th February back in 2012.

Cyanika is one of the business spots in Kisoro with goods exiting and entering Uganda.
