Kiruhuura : President Museveni commissions a girls’ dormitory at Kaaro High school


President Yoweri Museveni has advised the Ministry of Education and Sports to utilize limited resources on building schools infrastructure.

President Museveni was speaking at the commissioning ceremony of a girls’ dormitory at Kaaro High school in Nshwerenkye Parish in Kenshunga Sub-County, Kiruhuura district.

The dormitory , designed to accommodate 128 girls, named after Esteri Kokundeka, the late mother of the President was constructed in memory of the late Amos Kaguta, father to the President, in appreciation of Museveni’s parents’ contribution towards the education sector that resulted in the establishment of a secondary school in the area.

He promised to get teachers for science subjects, mathematics and ICT on top of building five staff units for science teachers to promote students’ performance in science subjects.

President Museveni further revealed that the construction of the dormitory is a result of a contribution of US$150,000 (over Shs.500 million) by a Chinese lady friend as an expression of her condolences on the death of the late Mzee Amos Kaguta.

President Museveni also promised to build Amos dormitory for boys adding that he would also provide for the school a bus, adding that the Ministry of Education and Sports will build the school library, the main and dining halls.

He also contributed Shs.20 million to school’s teachers’ Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Museveni said that the commissioned dormitory is a modern facility that meets the needs of students.

She observed that lack of teachers for science subjects was not only peculiar to Kaaro High School but affects all schools.

Kaaro High School head teacher, Mr. Lubega John, thanked the President for the renovation of the school.

The students also thanked President Museveni and the First Lady for the support to their school.
