Ibanda: Two Sub-Counties receive 6,000kgs of maize seeds from NAADS, to fight poverty
Two Sub-Counties in Ibanda district have today received 6,000kgs of maize seeds from the National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS) through the offices of area members of parliament, in order to avert poverty among farmers in different families.
The 6,000kgs of maize seeds have been allocated to farmers of Ishongororo Sub County and Keihangara Sub County each receiving 3,000 kgs.
While handing over sacks of maize, seeds to local council three chairpersons of the two sub-counties at her office, Ibanda Woman Member of Parliament Joveline Kaliisa Kyomukama urged leaders not to mix political and religious issues during the distribution of maize seeds to farmers, saying that in case they do so, they will be sabotaging government programs.
According to Kaliisa, national resistance movement government (NRM) is aiming at fighting poverty among farmers to zero, that’s why they introduce such programs among farmers.
Some beneficiaries our reporter spoke to expressed joy, saying the seeds come at the exact time they needed them.
