Two Injured In Lyantonde Armed Robbery
Two people are admitted at Mbarara regional referral hospital after they sustained serious injuries during an armed robbery at around 10:30 pm last night.
Lyantonde District Police Commander Robert Tashobya says the victims are ; Jolly Walugembe and his son Julius Kimbugwe both residents of Kabayanda village in Kyewanura parish, Lyantonde rural.
Walugembe's jaws were ripped by a bullet shot at close range while Kimbugwe got hit on the head with a hammer in the gruesome incident.
Tashobya says preliminary investigations indicate the thugs had prior knowledge that Kimbugwe was keeping seven million Shillings he generated from the maize harvests. But the money was not in the house that night. Instead, he had 400,000 Shillings which they went away with.
The same group of robbers is also suspected to have been responsible for the raid on four villages of Buyojwa, Rwamatama and Kyakatamara in Kacheera sub-county in Kacheera sub-county in Rakai district early this month, where they attacked and killed one person and left several others injured.
The police hunt for the thugs is ongoing.
