Minister Godfrey Kiwanda resounds President Museveni’s call against battering of women

The state minister for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda has resounded President Yoweri Museveni’s call against battering of women, by their husbands.

During the Women’s day national celebrations last Thursday, president Museveni said that beating women is an act of cowardice and weakness on the side of men.

Speaking as chief guest at the district celebrations to mark international Women’s day at Rwenkoobwa Muslim primary school yesterday, the minister called for love to prevail in families and communities at large, nationwide, arguing that with love, harmony and development can be easily achieved.

He called on women to work hard to ensure that they earn money and get out of poverty, which he blames for the rising cases of domestic violence. He urges Women to embrace agriculture, and other economic activities so as to get economically empowered.

Speaking at the same celebrations, the Ibanda Woman Member of Parliament, Joverine Kaliisa urged married women and men to avoid rumors and matain peace in their families.
