Kasese: Fruit Farmers Tipped On Better Farming Methods

Kasese municipality mayor his worship Godfrey Kabyanga has challenged farmers in Kasese district to practice better methods of planting fruits, mainly Mangoes in order to realize better yields.

This message was passed on yesterday at a one day training, of more than 50 farmers, held at Verina gardens in Kasese municipality.

Kabyanga appealed to the farmers to put more effort in their plantations adding that it is the best business from which they can reap big and improve their household income.

The mayor further explained that some farmers grow mangoes which are of poor quality and lead to poor yields, adding that they are set to supply different varieties of mangoes and with good managerial skills, asides from lobbying market for their produce.

Godfrey however criticized the agricultural officers for being reluctant in their offices advising them to move in field trips and sensitize farmers about the benefits of fruit farming.

On this note, Julius Baluku , the District Agricultural officer appealed the farmers to make an organization in order to claim funds from the government programs like operation wealth creation which will help them in quick boosting of their businesses.
