Mbarara : Acid Attack Suspects Denied Bail Again
Court in Mbarara has again denied bail to one of the suspects in the acid attack on the Mbarara municipality councilor Amos Katurebe.
Emanuel Mbine 22 a crime preventer in Katojo cell, Nyakayojo division Mbarara municipality had on 7th of this month applied for bail for over staying on remand.
However, in his ruling, Mbarara grade one magistrate Samuel Twakire turned down their bail application.
He concurred with the state attorney Anthony Kurigishule that the sureties reside in different district from the suspects and that the case the suspects are accused of is of capital nature.
He remanded him till the 28th of this month.
Mbine is being accused together with Don Kizitto Baryayesima of Ishongoro town council who is currently in prison and Bonny Tashobya – the Mbarara municipal council speaker who is currently out of prison on bond.
Another suspect Geoffrey Sali 28, of Bukoto in Kampala is serving a 20 year jail term after he was convicted for his role in this case.
Court has also issued a warrant of arrest against Sgt. Denis Bataringaya of CMI for his alleged connection in the acid attack.
