Rukungiri RDC wants Ugandans to actively participate in Women's Day celebrations
With just two days to this year's international women's day, local leaders in Rukungiri district want Ugandans to actively take part in these celebration's irrespective of their sex and political Affiliation in a move to mark the role played by the women in the development of the country and the world at large.
Martin Mugabe, the RDC Rukungiri district notes that some Ugandans have a tendency of shunning such celebration's basing on their political parties which he says is not fair.
Mugabe also asks the government to use such a day to address the challenges that women face if the country is to develop.
MEANWHILE, The former mister of ethics and integrity Maria Matembe has blamed women Members of Parliament for what she calls the collapsing of democracy in Uganda.
Matembe cites government chief whip, Ruth Nankabirwa, state minister of investments ; Evelyn Anite and Hanifa Kawoya as the MP’s who bribed fellow members of Parliament during the debate to amend presidential term limits.
According to her, the money they used for bribing MP’s could be used for helping children with nodding disease in Northern Uganda and pregnant women in hospitals.
