The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority –PPDA, has decried the high levels of forgery and corruption, in bidding documents by local contractors. Addressing contractors from Ankole region at Lake View Resort Hotel in Ruharo ward, Kamukuzi division, Mbarara Municipality, Moses Ojambo, the director capacity building and advisory services, at the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) said, many local contractors are awarded contracts, even when they have no capacity to deliver in preparing competitive, and responsive bids. He said, under the ‘’buy Uganda build Uganda’’ BUBU policy , government has come up with guidelines for promotion of local content, to encourage local providers to build their capacity, and start offering services to Uganda, so as to do away with shoddy work. In her remarks, the western region PPDA regional Manager, Lydia Kwesiga cautioned sub-county chiefs and senior town clerks, against signing contracts, saying that, it is only chief administrative officers and municipality town clerks, who are supposed to sign such documents.
