Uganda Land Commission has issued guidelines on the usage of mile land block 26 Plot 1 in Nyakishojwa Parish Rwengwe Sub-County, Buhweju district which hosts over 439 families from four Villages ,who are living in fear of being evicted.

The land in question is owned by the family of Late Adonia Banga. During a meeting held yesterday in Nyakishojwa Cell, Tom Johnfisher Kasenge, a Land Commission official directed that all the squatters remain on the land they are currently occupying as government finalizes plans to clear off the landlord’s debt of 144 million shillings.

Kasenge emphasized that the status-quo must remain so that the squatters continue to use the land concurrently with the landlord as government prepares to pay off the landlord in the next financial year.

Buhweju MP, Francis Mwijukye ,who is also a member of the Parliamentary Physical Infrastructure Committee , attended the meeting and called for calm among the squatters since government is working on the issue.
