Bunyoro Kingdom officials mourn Magara

Bunyoro region is mourning the death of Susan Magara who was killed by assailants that kidnapped her along Kabakanjagala road in in Lungujja, Lubaga Division on February 7. Her body was on Tuesday found dumped along at Kitiko between Kigo and Kjjansi along the Entebbe Express Highway in Kampala. Magara’s kidnap and murder has been a major subject of discussion by various leaders in Bunyoro region where she hailed from. The Prime minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Mr Andrew Byakutaga condemned the incidents which he described as unfortunate and regrettable. “We call upon the Government to stop the rising cases of murder and kidnaps that threatened to spoil the peace and stability which we have enjoyed for over three decades,” Byakutaga said. He requested President Museveni as a commander in chief of the armed forces to ensure that Ugandans enjoy their right to life, security and property.
The Bunyoro Queen Mother Omugo Margret Karunga Adyeeri also issued statement in which she extended her condolences to the bereaved family and condemned the murder and kidnap. “It is indeed heartbreaking and sad that her life has been taken in such a brutal way by cruel people. May God give justice for this act,” she said.
Magara’s cousin, Prince Brian Kaboyo, described the deceased as a loving and caring person. “She was social, full of life and hardworking,” Kaboyo said. The chairperson of the Hoima district NRM Entrepreneurs league Mr Richard Baguma said it is sad to lose such a young, focused and hardworking daughter who had chosen to add her entrepreneurial skills to a family business. “I believe the Magaras were looking up on her with enthusiasm and trust to push the family business to greater heights. It is indeed unfortunate and intimidating to the entrepreneurial community in Hoima district and Bunyoro in general,” Baguma said.
Susan Magara was a daughter to John Magara, a prominent businessman in Hoima and proprietor of Bwenero dairy farm and Nyati Rice mills. She is a grand-child to Mr Henry Muganwa Kajura, uganda’s former First Deputy Prime minister.
"Although she hailed from a wealthy and influential family, Susan lived a simple and social life. Susan went about everything with ease and calmness, sometimes I almost felt she was not as aggressive as I was," said Cindy Magara, a sister to the deceased. "Rest in peace my lovely sister Susan, smile and laugh at the villains who have brutally killed you. For you are at peace much as you leave us in pain. Your callous killers will be haunted all the days of their life,” Magara wrote in her eulogy. She said Susan was a respectful, loving, amiable, gentle soul who listened to people and more so the elders. “She studied without any hustle. She worked diligently in almost every department at Bwendero dairy farm and Nyati rice mills,” Cindy added.
In her message to the President, Cindy said kidnaps and unresolved murders have become a daily song. “Please wake up before the dogs get to you. Thank you Mr President for your efforts and please, let this be a case that will see justice served. We are all human and we are not safe from the reckless villains,” said Cindy, a film maker and teacher. The Kitoba sub county chairman Mr Tom Mugasa said Susan was jolly. “I knew her personally. She was loving and warm while receiving anyone who visited their farm. As people of Kitoba and Hoima district in general, we have lost an enterprising person,” Mugasa said.
