Pit latrine collapses in Kiruhura, killing a primary one pupil

One pupil is reported to have died on spot, while two others sustained injuries at Mugore Primary School, a government aided school in Rwemikoma, Kiruhura District.

The deceased has been identified as Ronald, a primary one pupil and a son to Baguma of Kashunga village, who was today afternoon knocked by the curtain wall.

Other two causalities who had by press time, not been identified, sustained serious injuries, and are admitted at Rushere Community Hospital, where they were rushed, according to one of the teachers we spoke to.

The boys pit latrine was old and in a poor condition, according to our sources.

Patrick Rumara, the Kiruhura DPC confirmed the development, saying that, the School headteacher , Joseph Ashaba is in police custody to help with investigations.

Cadre Johnbosco, the District Inspector of Schools in Kiruhura District said that, investigations are underway to ascertain what exactly happened.
