Mbarara: Councilors suspend council sitting, evict Rukaari

MBARARA district councilors decided to suspend the District council meeting that had been slated today , until further notice, and moved on to evict their tenant who has been renting district land for over five years but allegedly adamantly refused to pay them.

Their tenant has been identified as the former ambassador, currently the NRM western entrepreneurs league chairperson by the names of Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari and he has constructed Deposh Bar, Ankole Mall, a car bond and had just given out the land in question to Hiima Cement factory.

Councilors decided to halt the council businesses until futher notice after Rukaari has either paid the arrears or vacated the district land and councilors were seen holding placards written on; “Rukaari out”, “Rukaari you’re a thief”, “Museveni help us take your Rukaari away out of Mbarara” among others.

The Mbarara district Chief Administrative officer Felix Cuthbert Esoku said that Rukaari has spent five years and two months on the said land, but just paid only 40m.
