P.4 boy commits suicide after failing spelling test


Police in Mayuge is investigating circumstances under which a 13-year-old primary school pupil committed suicide after allegedly failing an English spelling exercise at home.

Kenneth Were, a primary four pupil of Kaluba Primary School had promised his grandfather he would improve the next time, but he disappeared and was hours later found dead, hanging on a nearby tree.

Mayuge district officer in charge of criminal investigations Abdul Nasser Mulimira said the incident happened Wednesday night in Busakira D village in Busakira sub-county.

The body of the deceased was taken to Mayuge Health Centre III for postmortem, before later handing it to the family for decent burial.
