NRM terminates contracts of 419 staff members over issues regarding payment.

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has terminated contracts of 419 staff members over issues regarding payment.

Speaking at the party’s headquarters in Kampala, Secretary General Kasule Lumumba said that every worker with the party has been laid off.

“We have issues with payments, this is a restructuring process. We are laying off 132 administrative secretaries at the District level, assistant secretaries and 157 staff members at the headquarters,” she said.

Lumumba also said that all staff will be paid their respective arrears before termination takes effect.

“They will also continue working with us for the next two months as required by the law,” she said.

She also clarified that her office, the offices of; Legal, Finance director, treasurer and deputy treasurer , Electoral Commission and commissioner as well the deputy Secretary General are not affected in the restructure.
