Construction of Mbarara central Market kicks off
The construction of mbarara central has kicked off today with the ground breaking,
The 21 billion Shillings project will be constructed by Roko construction limited and is expected to be completed in a period of two years.
Speaking to our reporter, Robert Mugabe kakyebezi –the mbarara municipality mayor called for cooperation from the people of Mbarara as the new market is being constructed.
The market is constructed under phase two of the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement program - MATIP funded by the African development bank and ministry of local government
The new market will have a total of 1,652 kiosks, lockups, saloons, warehousing and wholesale facilities, restaurants, stalls with lockers for food stuffs, groceries, clothes, shoes; stalls for fish and meat, cold storage rooms and fish dressing rooms.
The new structure will also house Banks, a day care Centre, fire hydrant points, mini-storage facilities, and a public parking/loading area.
