IBANDA: Thousands throng St. Paul’s Cathedral, to commemorate Archbishop JananI Luwum day
Thousands of Christians in Ibanda district have today joined the rest in the country, to commemorate the 41st year, after the life of late Archbishop Janani Luwum.
Christians gathered at St. Paul cathedral Northwest Ankole diocese Ibanda, where the late archbishop Janan Luwum laid a foundation to the church on 22nd February 1976 when he visited Ibanda.
Leading the Service, Bishop Amos Magezi asked Christians to copy the example of late archbishop Janan Luwum, for being a good leader.
Magezi said that the late archbishop who was born in 1922 in Kitgum district, was murdered by former Ugandan president, the late Iddi Amin Dada in 1977 in Nakasero, by shooting and later staged an accident.
Lay Canon Sam Bishaka 99, talked about the life of the late archbishop Janan Luwum, and the relationship between Ibanda, and late archbishop.
He said that, days before he was killed, archbishop Janan Luwum was in Ibanda, and laid a foundation stone at St Paul church.
