Isingiro: Over 10 houses ravaged by Heavy rains

Over 10 houses and gardens were yesterday ravaged by Heavy rains in the sub-counties of Rugaaga and Bukanga in Isingiro.

The houses were left roofless and heavy winds blew their rooftops away while gardens were swept by running waters. The most affected were villages of Kyanyanda, Kyampango, Keitegura, Rwenturagara A&B all in Rugaaga Sub County.

Isingiro District Chairperson, Jeremiah Kamurali told our reporter that he is worried that the heavy rains have left the locals in a worrying situation, although he was quick to add that the district will embark on a move to sensitize the locals on improved farming practices in order to mitigate the impacts of such disasters.

Last year, similar rains destroyed homes, acres of banana plantations and livestock in the same district, besides washing away Kishuro and Katanoga bridges.
