Four students perish in car accident on their way to pick UCE results
A fatal car accident has claimed the lives of four Ndejje SS Bombo students who were headed to the school to pick their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations results.
The motor accident occurred today after their vehicle Reg. No. UAR860W rammed into a stationary Tipper Reg. No.UAY946F stationary truck at Bajjo village along Kampala-Gulu highway.
Charles Ssebambulidde, the Public Relations Officer at the Traffic Directorate in Kampala confirmed the accident and identified the deceased as Vincent Male, Mark Ndugga and Isaac Sserwanja all residents of Kawanda village in Wakiso District.
According to Ssebambulidde, three of the students died on the spot while their colleague;
Timothy Njogera was taken to Bombo military Hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead, hours later. The cause of the accident has not yet been established , but according to a video obtained, the senior four vacists were driving while playing music and dancing which could have distracted them.
The school's director of studies confirmed that the deceased were heading to the school to pick their results, indicating that Vincent Male who was driving had scored Aggregate 14; Mark Ndugga got Aggregate 37 while Isaac Sserwanje had scored Aggregate 31.
