Mbarara municipal council enforcement team on the spotlight Over Intimidation

The Mbarara municipal council enforcement team is on the spotlight for allegedly torturing the business community while collecting taxes.

Mbarara Resident District Commissioner, Capt. Martha Asiimwe while addressing the district security Committee at her office yesterday(Monday,29th January 2018) said that she has received a petition from the business community and taxi drivers on misconduct and mistreatment by the Municipal enforcement team who connive with the municipality prosecutor.

RDC Martha noted that she has received a petition by the Mbarara taxi operators who are dissatisfied with operations and services of Mbarara united taxi operators union (MUTOU) and are appealing to the president’s office to intervene.

The district security committee tasked the municipal council leaders, led by the Mayor Robert Mugabi Kakyebezi and the acting deputy town clerk, Jackline Masambu to take action on the reported cases so that these issues are solved with immediate effect.

In their response, the municipal council team agreed to convene a meeting today with the leaders of the aggrieved parties so that the issue is solved, saying they were not aware of the disagreements.
