Isingiro: Heavy Rains Devastate Rugaga , leaving hundreds of families at risk of starvation

Heavy rains have left a trail of destruction in Rugaga Sub County in Isingiro district. The heavy rains battered Rugaga Sub County from Thursday evening up to yesterday, destroying several cassava and banana plantations leaving hundreds of families at the risk of starvation.

The most affected areas include; Rugaga, Kyampango A and B villages in Kyampango parish, Kikunyu and Kabare villages in Kabare parish, all in Rugaga Sub County.

Speaking to our reporter, Mathias Shabaomwe, the area Local Council III chairperson said that the local leaders are now assessing the magnitude of the damage so that they can forward a report to the district for possible intervention.

Jeremiah Kamurali, the Isingiro LC V Chairperson, said that they had dispatched a team from the production department for possible intervention.
