Tentative burial program for former archbishop Nkoyoyo released
State House has mourned the death of the former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda the late Dr Livingstone Mpalanyi Ngoyoyo.
Dr Nkoyoyo died this morning at Kampala hospital where he had been admitted.
In a statement issued by Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Don Wanyama, State House described the late Nkoyoyo as a person who “was a dedicated servant of God.”
The body of the late retired Archbishop will be laid to rest on Tuesday next week at Namugongo martyr’s church of Uganda to honor his wish, according archbishop Stanley Ntagali.
He says that on Sunday evening, the body will be taken to all Saints for the overnight and will be taken to St Andrews church in Mukono from 10 am and thereafter, the body will be taken to his home at Nakabengo for the vigil.
On Tuesday, the body will then be taken to Namirembe from 9 am for the National service before being taken to Namugongo for burial at 4 pm.
Meanwhile, Here in Ibanda, North West Ankole Diocese religious leaders have described the late retired Archbishop Nkoyoyo as a hard working man and Good servant of God.
Speaking to our reporter this afternoon, at the Diocese, the Diocesan Secretary , Rev Can. Jackson Katungyi said that the death of Bishop is a big loss to the Church of Uganda since he was dedicated servant of God.
Rev Katungyi added that Bishop Nkoyoyo did a lot of things while in office and even after his retirement, giving an example of the putting up of the Church of Uganda Museum, among others.
Rev.Tito Bakahumura the Diocesan Dean also described the Late Archbishop as a parent , adding that his legacy will live on.
Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo took over from Archbishop Serivana Siwani and he was replaced by Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi who was later replaced by the current Archbishop, Stanely Ntagali.
