Mbarara: Man Arrested Over Sectarian Comments
Police in Mbarara have in detention a 52year old man, whose arrest was recently ordered by President Yoweri Museveni, for the divisive comments he allegedly made during a wedding party in Kiruhura.
The suspect William Tandeka, alias Nkeito, is a resident of Nabuguyo village Kenshunga Sub County, in Gomba district.
The president reacted angrily to Tandeka’s tribal charged comments, in his national address on the New Year’s Eve, and vowed to deal with such people who demean and abuse fellow Ugandans.
He then ordered for the arrest of Tandeka whose comments were spreading fast on social media platforms around the country.
The arrest was confirmed by the Rwizi region police commander Robert Walugembe during a press conference yesterday.

The police boss revealed that Tandeka was picked up on 2nd January from his home in Gomba district.
The suspect was a resident of Kiruhura district before he migrated to Gomba where he stays with his family.
His comments during the wedding ceremony of his cousin Godwin Mabona appeared to stir hatred between the Bairu and Bahima Clans of Ankole.
Police Commander Walugembe says the suspect will be charged with Promoting Sectarianism.
The Police boss said several witnesses who attended the wedding have already registered statements pinning the suspect.
