East Ruwenzori Diocese bishop to be consecrated this Sunday

Preparations are in high gear ,for the consecration of the second Bishop of East Ruwenzori diocese anticipated to cost over 300 million shillings.

The consecration of the second Bishop, Rev. Can, George K Turyasingura is due this Sunday at St. Stephen’s cathedral in Kamwenge town council.

Speaking during a press briefing in his office at the diocese, the outgoing East Ruwenzori diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Edward Arinaitwe Bamucwanira said Christians have so far raised Shs 95 million from the seven archdeaconries, 41 parishes and 229 local churches.

Bishop Bamucwanira added that the Minister for information and national guidance, Frank Tumwebaze has contributed Shs 30 million while Uganda communications commission (UCC) director Engineer Godfrey Mutabazi has donated 20 million.

The Bishop also confirmed that President Yoweri Museveni is expected as guest of honor whereas about 60 bishops and their wives, members of parliament and lay canons among others are also expected to attend the function.
