Residents of Ibanda Municipality have expressed mixed reaction on the new garbage collection guidelines put in place by the municipality council authorities, in a bid to prevent improper waste management.
Speaking to our reporter this morning, some people, mainly hotel and restaurants owners said that paying five hundred (500=) for each sack of Garbage will in the long run turn out to be very expensive for them. They suggest at least a fee of 200 shillings per sack
However, Ibanda Municipal Town clerk, Justine Barekye Mulinzi maintains that the new guidelines should be respected by everyone , adding that this resolution was passed in the Municipal Council Meeting with the aim to stop reckless littering of garbage.
She added that this will also help the Municipality to use the huge sums of money that they have been spending on Garbage collection to provide other services like repairing roads, street lights.
