Police today afternoon swung into action arresting Democratic Party president Norbert Mao together with other party members, including some youth, who were in a procession to parliament.
Earlier, Mao had told a news conference that he would march to the August House in protest of the impending report on the age limit by the parliamentary legal committee.
They were intercepted by police led by the Central Police Station DPC Joseph Bakaleke before asking the DP president to go with them to police because his security was at a risk.
Later in the day, the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has ordered for a security review at Parliament following the September 27 raid that saw non-uniformed security personnel invade the chambers. The call for a review was carried in Kadaga's communication to parliament, more than a month after a failing to secure a response from President Yoweri Museveni about the identity of the plain clothed personnel, believed to be attached to the Special Forces command (SFC) that stormed the chambers of parliament on the fateful day.
This triggered a fight in which several legislators sustained injuries as microphone stands, cables and chairs turned into weapons.
But Kadaga today said she was not aware of the forceful ejection that followed her directive for the suspension.
She also reminded MPs about the rules governing their conduct and dress-code at Parliament advising them to maintain the dignity of the House.
Meanwhile , the Uganda Law Society (ULS) has set up the anti- torture cluster to deal with the perpetrators who torture citizens.
During the release of 4th annual report on the state of the rule of law, the ULS raised legal issues of whether the right to assembly was violated as a result of the discriminate manner of applying rule of law.
Francis Gimara, the president of the ULS says they still have a lot of work to eliminate impunity and lawlessness.
