Rukungiri: Church Priest, Four Others Arrested For Murder

Police in Rukungiri is holding five people ,including a priest attached to North Kigezi Diocese ,for alleged murder of two private security guards; Brain Tumubwaine, 22, who was working or Security 2000, and Fred Rutabindwa 29, a watchman.

The two who were mudered on Sunday night ,were posted to guard the offices of Compassion International, at Bugangari Archdeaconry Church of Uganda in Bugangari Sub County.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson says five people including a priest are in custody in connection to the murder. He however, declined to reveal their identities for fear of interfering with the investigation.

Maate says the bodies were discovered today, in the wee hours, by passers by.

He says that after killing the two,the thugs broke into the NGO offices but never took anything with them. One of their guns, an MK4 no. 32088 was found at the scene of crime.

Robert Mubangizi, a parishioner at the Bugangari church of Uganda said the assailants could have been targeting money and other items given out by donors to children under Compassion International.
